Forms from heat-resistant silicone today open up completely new possibilities for creativity for all needleworkers. These are concrete products, soap making, and the casting of candles, decorations, figurines, making cakes and other confectionery products, chocolates (subject to the use of food forms), and much more.

Another interesting use case for molds is the casting of decorative elements for the interior. With the help of forms, you can even cast a “stone” for yourself for facing walls and furniture! This is a relatively new and as yet little explored by needleworkers direction that is definitely worth paying attention to.

Forms can be both relief and three-dimensional.

Three-dimensional form requires more skill when getting the finished object, they are suitable for adult creativity. If you are planning to do crafts with children, it is better to start with simple relief forms and stencils.

In children’s art, such forms are indispensable for working with clay, clay and gypsum. Finished figures can be painted.

Why do it when you can buy everything ready?

Household soap and candles have many great benefits! When you make your own soap, you not only save a lot of money, but you can also choose which ingredients to use, which means more variety in fragrances, soap bases, and so on. This is important for those of us who want to know exactly what has been made of what we use, especially when it comes to baby soap. Ordinary soap often incorporates aggressive chemicals and detergents, without which you can easily do. And the most interesting thing is to choose beautiful molds to make soap creatively.

But silicone molds provide more options. Try to cast in them and completely different materials.

Making artificial stone using molds
Molds made of artificial stone silicone rubber are used to create an artificial stone that is very similar to the real one (in your opinion, you probably don’t distinguish it).

These are non-toxic and environmentally friendly forms, the material for the manufacture of which is ordinary liquid two-component silicone rubber, liquid silicone rubber, this is the foundation with a hardener, thanks to which you get finished products.

If you are using a mold for cement, casting a stone, you will need a higher hardness of silicone rubber (and the hardness of the mold, respectively) than for making soap. Then it will not deform and will have high tensile strength and good flexibility. Therefore, silicone rubber molds are the best material for printing parts from cement products.

You can cast architectural and interior parts for decor not only from cement, but also from softer materials (clay, including polymer), then you can use softer molds.

Application of silicone rubber molds.

Artificial silicone stone rubber is specifically designed to create elements for decorating furniture that imitate stone (imitation of gypsum, cement, artificial stone, Roman columns, stone carving, and so on).

These molds are also suitable for various types of creativity, creating ornaments from animals and plants, sculptures, resin products, and gypsum. Why not cast your own Buddhist statue, for example?

Characteristics of quality form.

1. High tensile and tear strength, no deformation.

2. Good flexibility, it is easy to take the material out of the mold, the product will not be damaged.

3. It is possible to pour materials with low viscosity, good flowability, easily released bubbles.

4. Easy to clean.

5. High temperature resistance, acid resistance, reusability.

6. Slight shrinkage, good contractility.

If you want to try to cast a solid stone in the usual form that you use for softer materials, first try to add a small amount of new material to the mold. Experiment and watch how the form behaves. After all, this is creativity – the very thing for which we buy not ready-made things, but sets of materials to do something with our own hands!
